Pirates' Is Thrown Overboard By Talladega Nights
by Aaron (8/5/06)
I know it is a drastic title, but on Friday, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby racked in
18.1 million, while Pirates' dropped to 4th and managed to snatch 3.85 million from about 3,400 theaters.
This is a big drop compared to what Pirates' has been grossing over the last 29 days. As of
(8/4/06), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest has grabbed 371 million. In 10-15 days or less, Pirates' will manage
400 million domestically. That is unless Talladega Nights continues to rise.
This weekend, I expect Nights to race 52 million from its 3,834 theaters and I see The Descent pulling
in a 12 million opening as well. I would like to see Pirates' make 400 million and break the record for the fastest
to that amount as that would put it around 6th place in All-Time Domestic Grosses. This movie is 89 million from making
it to second place All-Time Domestically so it would also be nice to see it make it there.
